It proved to be a highly successful competition for the locals, with gold medal performances going to Emmy-Grace Barr (Junior L2,) Breanna Newcombe (Senior Level 3), Rita-Lee Gillard (Intermediate Level 4) and Becky Smyth (Senior Level 6).
Claiming Silver in the All-Around competition were Yasmin Thomas (Intermediate Level 2), Monica Andren (Intermediate Level 6) and Lacey Davis (Senior Level 7).
Third All-Around in their respective divisions were Chelsea Palmer (Senior Level 1), Georgia Tibbs (Intermediate Level 2) and Beth Andren (Intermediate Level 3).
The country championships showcase gymnasts in levels 1-10 from country regions in NSW. This includes the Riverina, Wollongong, the South Coast, the Central Coast, Newcastle and the North Coast, along with gymnasts from throughout the North West region.
Last weekend Gunnedah hosted gymnasts from Tamworth, Armidale, Dubbo RSL Youth Club and Dubbo PCYC at the North West region levels 1-3 selection competition.
Five gymnasts in each age division in level 1-3 were chosen to represent the region at the state championships to be held at the new Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre at Rooty Hill on the first weekend in November.
The club congratulated Lucy Robertson, Eliza Renton, Chelsea Palmer, Lilly Tunningley, Madilyn Little, Emmy-Grace Barr, Yasmin Thomas, Simone White, Isabella Barr, Beth Andren, Kari Donaldson and Breanna Newcombe, who have all been named in the North West region teams for this competition.
Following the meet, which is the final one for the 2013 calendar year, these gymnasts will join with another 70 club members to present the annual Evening of Movement, which will be held at the Lyle and Griffiths Centre on November 22-23.
