Emergency crews were called to the scene along Rushes Creek Road, south of Manilla at around 1pm.
It’s believed the small four-door sedan left the road and hit a tree, before bursting into flames.
A local landholder contacted the Rural Fire Service, before he and other members of the Rushes Creek and Somerton fire brigades responded to the blaze.
Tamworth Rural Fire Service Superintendant Allyn Purkiss said the crews initially started cooling down the car, which was well and truly alight by the time they arrived.
“It was a fairly intense fuel driven fire. With metals burning, it can be difficult to extinguish once they’re burning,” Superintendant Purkiss said.
Fire crews also began attacking a grass fire which had broken out but was brought under control.
A body was found inside the wreckage and police are still yet to identify the driver.
The accident happened on a straight stretch of road.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated and a report is being prepared by the Coroner.
