There has been a slight delay, however, with the concreter held up for another week and the fencing damaged by a vehicle running into it.
Lions Club member Neville Steele said they hoped to get started in the week after AgQuip but meanwhile will have to repair or source more barriers for the site, which will soon boast an amenities block and rotunda.
The Lions Club received a grant of $230,000 from Shenhua Watermark Coal to assist the project with the club to contribute $10,000 and countless hours of voluntary labour.
The long-awaited project will be completed with internal sealing of roads and carparks.
The planning stage included approval from Gunnedah Shire Council and Roads and Maritime Services.
The project on the edge of the Wandobah Reserve, will further enhance Gunnedah’s reputation as an RV Friendly Town, with the RV stop developed by Rotary at Redbank on the Tamworth Road enormously well utilised and the Namoi riverine area rapidly gaining popularity.
