About 10am Thursday, police attached to Barwon Traffic and Highway Patrol were conducting random breath testing in Dangar Street, Narrabri, when they observed a B-Double truck, without compliant spray suppression devices.
Officers followed the truck a short distance before stopping it on the side of the road.
They say further inspection of the vehicle revealed a number of other breaches, prompting police to conduct a search of the truck cabin.
Inside the cabin, which the driver – a 32-year-old Gunnedah man – had been sharing with his 11-year-old son, police allegedly found more than 30 grams of methamphetamine concealed in the driver’s side sun visor.
The driver was arrested and taken to Narrabri Police Station where he was charged with drug supply, drug possession and vehicle diary breach offences.
He was granted bail to appear in Narrabri Local Court on July 23.
His son was placed in the care of relatives.
