About Us
The award-winning Namoi Valley Independent, established in 1876, is regarded as the best country newspaper in Australia, with a strong commitment to local news and a firm allegiance to community values.
The Independent is published twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, covering the thriving township of Gunnedah and its surrounding rural districts, villages and hamlets.
The NVI is one of the few remaining independently-owned newspapers in country NSW; its independence of ownership and individuality of spirit gives it a rare journalistic voice that reports without bias, fear or favour on key issues affecting the Namoi Valley.
The newspaper is published by the Gunnedah Publishing Company, which has its own web offset presses in Gunnedah, and also publishes the colour magazine Namoi Valley Energy, which covers the coal, coal seam gas and thermal industries.
Other magazines and events are in the planning stages as the company embarks on a determined growth phase.
